We’re oh-so-excited to announce that Tudor House Museum has been nominated for the Kids in Museums 2017 FAMILY FRIENDLY MUSEUM AWARD! For a small independent museum without a huge budget or team, this is an enormous deal.
But that is what the Family Friendly awards have been doing since 2004: celebrating not just the big nationals, but the Tudor House sized ones too. Size isn’t important, it’s how you make the families visiting you feel, and here we’ve always prided ourselves on making everyone, regardless of age and ability, feel welcome and included.
Our family facilities run from the basic (baby changing, high chairs), to the inventive (our February Superheroes trail, for example!), to the considerate (dressing up clothes for all ages, free entry, children’s trails at their eye-level).
And the new ideas keep coming! We are currently working with a student from the local university to develop a gaming event for teenagers and young adults, which is very exciting and completely different for us.
If you have visited us in the past with your family (or someone else’s) and been impressed by what you’ve experienced and enjoyed that wonderful moment of knowing everyone in your group is Having A Good Time, PLEASE vote for us! This is the only museum award where the decision is made entirely by the families who visit museums, making it truly reflective of real experiences.
