SUMMARY:Black Tudors: New Narratives
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition\, loaned from Selly Manor in Birmingham\, explores aspects of Tudor life and has been created in collaboration with young artists of Black Heritage from the West Midlands and supported by West Midlands Museum Development. The Black Tudors project was inspired by the only known image of a Black Tudor – John Blanke\, a royal trumpeter for Henry VIII\, and Miranda Kaufmann’s book ‘Black Tudors: The Untold Story’. The artists responded to the ‘Black Tudors’ from Kaufmann’s 2017 publication\, telling their stories and creating visual representation. Come and see their work and find out more about this wonderful project! \nThis exhibition will be at Tudor House Museum (in the Tudor Room*) from Wednesday 23rd October until Thursday 7th November 2024 during our normal opening hours – Wednesday – Saturday 10am-4pm. \n*Only stair access to the Tudor Room.

SUMMARY:Severn Rising Interactive Game
DESCRIPTION:The Severn Rising 2222 project\, challenges the residents of Worcester to learn more about climate change\, pollution and the direct impact it will have on their community. \nThe Severn Rising 2022 game\, mixes animation with illustration\, encourages conversation and creativity\, and pushes boundaries of gaming as art. \nThe game brings together beautiful\, vibrant depictions of nature and Worcester’s landmarks by artist Sarah Millin\, with the game design skills of Andy Round of Paradise Multimedia. The game was developed through a series of creative workshops held in heritage\, cultural and environmental venues\, across Worcester during 2022.  \nThe interactive game will be resident at Tudor House from Wednesday 28th June to Saturday 8th July and will be accessible during our normal opening hours – Wednesday to Saturday\, 10am to 4pm. It’s free to visit Tudor House and the game is free to use!

SUMMARY:Poetry Workshop with Rhianna Levi
DESCRIPTION:Following a highly successful Tudor themed poetry workshop in the summer holidays\, we have another session in store for October half term! Rhianna Levi will be joining us again\, to host a Victorian themed workshop. Rhianna is Worcestershire’s Poet Laureate so she knows a thing or two about poems. She’ll be on hand to give you tips and tricks for writing your own\, in this fun\, free session. \nThe workshop will be inspired by the Victorian elements of our history. We’ll have Victorian objects for you to handle\, to get those creative juice flowing. And when you’re ready to write\, you can benefit from Rhianna’s expertise. \nThe workshop will take place on Saturday 22 October between 10:30 and 12pm at Tudor House Museum. You can just drop in\, and there’s no need to book but if you have any queries\, email us at info@tudorhouse.org.uk The session is open to all ages\, but is probably best enjoyed by KS2 and KS3.

SUMMARY:Join the Bedfellows Project
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to Arts Council England Funding and Elmley Small Grants\, we are continuing with our Bedfellows Project\, which began in 2019. We aim to create Tudor-style curtains and counterpane for our four-poster bed. Using traditional stitching techniques and led by a textile artist\, you will be part of a friendly volunteer team\, creating a unique embroidered textile for our museum. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. \nOur next taster day will be on Wednesday 21st July from 2 to 4pm\, so if you’d like to find out more\, do come along then! Email info@tudorhouse.org.uk for more information and to sign up. If you can’t make it then\, don’t worry – we’ll be holding more events throughout the summer and into the autumn!
