SUMMARY:Heritage Open Days - Bedfellows Project
DESCRIPTION:As part of this year’s Heritage Open Days we will be highlighting our Arts Council England funded Bedfellows project.  The project aims to create curtains and coverlet for the tester bed in our bed chamber using 16th century techniques.  You will see Bedfellows volunteers working on the embroidered coverlet and see the work in progress. They will be here during opening hours on Saturday 9th September 10am-4pm and Sunday 10th September 11am-3pm. Come and see this beautiful project and find out more about the traditional stitching techniques they have been using.

DESCRIPTION:Thanks to funding from Arts Council England and Elmley Small Grants\, we are continuing with our Bedfellows Project. We aim to create Tudor-style curtains and a counterpane for our four-poster bed. Using traditional stitching techniques and led by a textile artist\, we’re creating a unique embroidered textile for our museum. And we’re looking for volunteers to help us! No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Whether you’re a complete novice or an experienced stitcher\, there’s something for all. \nOur next volunteer afternoon is Tuesday 26 October\, 2 to 4pm.
