Heroic Handicrafts of the Second World War with Esther Dobson from the University of Worcester
Saturday, June 21, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
We’ve all heard the stereotype of women ‘staying at home to knit’ whilst men go off to war. But handicrafts played a much more significant role in the Second World War than is often reported. This talk explores how women used handicrafts to actively influence the outcome of the conflict. From creating disguises for spies, to hiding government secrets, not everything was as it ‘seam-ed’. Hear Esther Dobson, Research and Knowledge Exchange Facilitator at the University of Worcester talk about her research into the handicrafts of the Second World War.
Booking is essential – email info@tudorhouse.org.uk
Talk will take place in the Tudor Room which only has stair access.
Free talk but donations appreciated.
