Would you like to make a difference to your local community, and help preserve Worcester’s heritage for years to come? Then why not join the friendliest team on Friar Street and become a volunteer at Tudor House Museum? Whether you’re a history buff, or don’t know your Queen Elizabeth I from your Queen Elizabeth II, we welcome everyone so please be in touch.
Volunteering is an excellent way to make the most of your skills, as well as learning new ones. You can help in a variety of ways. Our main roles are front of house, welcoming visitors when they arrive; room stewarding; and helping out in the coffee shop. But there are lots of opportunities to help us in other ways, including with research, site maintenance and educational visits – all skills are welcome!
New volunteers are given an induction to support their training. We don’t insist you know everything about the Tudors, or Worcester, but an interest in the history of the house is important, as is an enthusiasm for talking to visitors. We welcome those who can sign up to regular shifts, or people who can only spare a little time around their other commitments.
Volunteers have been vital to the existence of Tudor House since it opened in 2004. In 2017, they were recognised for their efforts at the West Midlands Museum Development Volunteer Awards, where the team won the Above and Beyond Team category and the overall Judges Award for Excellence! In 2018, the Gate Team won the Warmest Welcome Award for their excellent work in helping visitors discover the museum.
We hold regular social events for our volunteers, so joining the team is a great way to meet new people, get involved with your local community and help us preserve and share our heritage for years to come. To find out more, call into the museum or email info@tudorhouse.org.uk
Worcester Heritage & Amenity Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and building a diverse and representative volunteer team at the museum. We welcome volunteers from all sections of the community. Please note, we are only able to take on volunteers who are 16 years or older.
