We are pleased to welcome Susan Birch, a PhD* student from the University of Winchester. Susan’s talk will comprise her research into women’s healthcare and in particular the work of Lucy Baldwin, mainly known through the work of her husband, the Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. She was, however, greatly involved in women’s health. This talk will examine her activism as Vice President of the National Birthday Trust Fund which campaigned to support maternal healthcare and explore her work in London as well as locally in Worcestershire. If you are interested in healthcare, education, women’s activism or the history of Worcestershire then this talk is for you!

*Susan’s PhD focuses on 1945 to 1955 and the differing experiences of women in Birmingham and Winchester in a pre-pill era.
