Come and listen to Clive Foreman deliver his Mapping History talk on another of our Saturday afternoon series of talks. Clive has been researching the roads, rails and waterways of Worcester since moving to the city in the early 2000s. Previous to that, Clive was a member of the Board of Directors of the Faversham Society, in Kent, a Civic Society, with the objective of preserving and improving local heritage, ranging from town planning, research and education, including maintaining three museums based in heritage premises. The main museum, called the Fleur de Lis, after a former pub which forms its core, was expanded and re-designed during the period 1996 to 2000; Clive was responsible for designing and managing the creation of galleries dealing with history up to 1538 (the Dissolution of Faversham Abbey) and with the development of local education, beginning in Tudor times. During the period 2000 to 2019, at which point Clive and his wife Jean moved to Worcester, he organised annual exhibitions with the title Into the Light, displaying items from the collection which are not normally on show. During the years 2014-2019 these were augmented by exhibitions covering the effect of WW1 on Faversham. In 2015 the 800^th anniversary of Magna Carta was celebrated with a travelling exhibition featuring 17 Royal Charters owned by Faversham Town Council, including a copy of Magna Carta purchased by them in the year 1300. Clive was responsible for the content of the displays. The exhibition was displayed in the major towns and cities of Kent, including Rochester and Canterbury cathedrals.
