In 2019, Worcester Heritage and Amenity Trust will start the conservation and restoration work needed to secure the long-term future of Worcester only remaining Tudor embossed ceiling. Created in the mid-1500s, it depicts prancing horses, fleur de lys, vines and, of course, Tudor roses.
The historic buildings conservator will reattach the plaster from the attic space above before peeling away all the decades of white emulsion before carrying out a paint analysis. This will tell us what type of paints would have been used when it was first made. Then we’ll carefully restore the ceiling, revealing it as it would have looked originally.
All of this conservation work will cost in the region of £30,000 – quite a lot of money for a small museum – and to help with our fundraising we are raffling off this limited edition Little Grey Rabbit Tea Cosy!
Tickets are £2 and to be in with a chance of winning, you can purchase them in the following ways:
1. by visiting the museum and buying them in person (cash or card payments over £5)
2. by emailing info@tudorhouse.org.uk. A member of staff will then get in touch.
