Tudor House Museum has been awarded an £18,000 National Lottery grant from Arts Council England in support of our latest project, Bedfellows!
The project will involve working with textile artist Louise Goult to design and create a set of Tudor-style bed curtains and counterpane to dress the Tudor bed in the Best Room at the museum. We want to work with volunteers and community groups from across the city, helping create the hundreds of symbols and designs needed to cover the base fabric. No experience will be necessary as, thanks to the generosity of Arts Council England, the materials and training will be provided.
Tonia Collett, Museum Manager, said that “This is a really exciting project for Tudor House Museum, and we’re so pleased Arts Council England have agreed to fund it. Their grant will allow us to work with different people around the city to create a lasting and beautiful piece of art that not only reflects Worcester’s heritage but that everyone can enjoy.”

Bedfellows is part of a wider development at Tudor House that involves renewing the displays and activities, focusing on the Best Room, which includes the last remaining Tudor embossed ceiling in Worcester.
